Suffolk Rugby This week
A full programme of league fixtures beckons.

In London 1 the going is tough for the Colchester Club who have surprisingly lost two consecutive games and been knocked off the top of the table after once enjoying a 7 point cushion. There is now only one point separating the top four Clubs in this very competitive league. This weekend Colchester travel to the East End to Chingford where they will be hoping to regain their confidence and move forward again. Third placed Bury St Edmunds are on the road to Ruislip seeking to defend their remarkable record of being unbeaten away from home this season. Diss who are fifth in the table six points behind the leaders have an away game at Eton Manor.
Ipswich lost heavily last weekend in an excursion to Hampstead. This Saturday they will be pleased to be on home ground at Humber Doucy Lane where their opponents in London 2 are Lowestoft and Yarmouth. Beccles are slumped at the bottom of the table in this league as yet without the taste of success. They travel into Essex to Saffron Walden for what could well be a fruitless task.
In London 3, Newmarket travel to East London for a bottom of the table clash while Sudbury entertain Upminster. Sudbury must take the points in this fixture to sneak up the table and they will be pleased to note that the visitors have not won a game away from home. Stowmarket, sitting prettily in third position, have fewer worries and will be buoyed by a 52 point victory last weekend. They travel to Wanstead for their game.
All five local sides playing in the Greene King IPA Eastern Counties League 1 enjoy home advantage. The game of the day in this league is at Ipswich YM’s Rushmere ground. YM are handily placed third in the league and are playing with confidence following promotion at the end of last season. They face the unbeaten top Club Cantabrigian in a game with much at stake. Fourth placed Harwich and Dovercourt entertain West Norfolk and fifth placed Southwold are at home to Crusaders. Mersea Island who have had a wretched start to the season play second team Wisbech and Woodbridge face Ely. So far Woodbridge have only secured one victory but this game will provide them with a chance to move away from the foot of the table.
In Eastern Counties 2 unbeaten Thurston are motoring along in third position. They travel to face hapless Mildenhall Eagles who are still struggling to find a success. Mistley, although in fourth place have a difficult away game at second placed Swaffham and Felixstowe are on the road to Dereham. Hadleigh with a magnificent 99 point victory under their belt are at Norwich Union.
In the Essex Leagues Clacton travel to face Millwall and Brightlingsea are at home to May and Baker.
Games kick off at 3pm for the last time this year.
