The rugby season is now in full swing with, for the first time, a full programme of league fixtures. In London 1 form is becoming established with Colchester powering away in second position. This weekend they travel into Norfolk to North Walsham with the intention of maintaining their status. Bury St Edmunds who are 5th in the league have on paper a more difficult task at home to Thurrock. They will however be buoyed with the 54 points they scored away from home last weekend. Mid table Diss will be looking to capitalise upon home advantage against Rochford Hundred at their Roydon Ground.

In their last game in London 2 Ipswich lost some ground when they suffered a defeat at the hands of Chelmsford and they now stand in the middle of the table. They will be planning to make amends at Humber Doucey Lane where Basildon are the visitors. Beccles face a long trip to Canvey Island to honour their fixture.

In London 3 Sudbury are already making their mark in their efforts to bounce back following relegation last season. They are currently standing in third position in the league after their workmanlike victory at Stowmarket last Saturday. This weekend they entertain bottom club Newmarket with the intention of taking bonus points. Stowmarket have a much more difficult task in an away match against top team Harlow.

In the Greene King IPA Eastern Counties League 1, both Southwold and Harwich and Dovercourt have emerged victorious from both of their matches. Southwold are currently top of the table and so far have only conceded 8 points. This weekend they are on the road to Harwich where the home side must have aspirations to leap frog over their opponents in the table. This will be a hard fought encounter that will have a bearing on the league standings at the end of the season. Ipswich YM will be travelling with some confidence to Mersea Island but Woodbridge who have yet to put any points on the board could well struggle against second team Crusaders at their Hatchley Barn Ground.

Teams from the Greene King IPA Eastern Counties League 2 enter the fray for the first time this weekend. Hadleigh entertain Felixstowe and Mistley take on Thetford. Mildenhall Eagles, who sadly failed to secure a victory last season, are on the road to face new boys Norwich Union whilst demoted Thurston play their first game of the season at Sawston.
