Eastern Counties Rugby Union places rugby volunteering at the forefront of its activities. Gregory Underwood is the ECRU volunteer coordinator. He leads a team of sub county volunteer coordinators;

This team supported by the RFU Rugby Development Officers and Alex Thompson, RFU volunteer executive work to support, train and encourage club volunteer coordinators.
Every club is encouraged to appoint a Club Volunteer Coordinator.
The volunteer team focus their efforts in support of the following RFU’s strategic themes:
- Maintain the Core Values of the game.
- Reduce ‘bureaucracy’ and empower, recognise and encourage the volunteer.
- Support and strengthen our clubs at all levels, in all sectors and age groups.
